“Then from the moorland, by misty crags, with God’s wrath laden, Grendel came.”

Get ready for one big monster. Grendel, a live-action monster film by the Jim Henson Company has landed its lead characters as Jeff Bridges will play the titular character, Dave Bautista will play the role of Beowulf, and Bryan Cranston will play King Hrothgar, according to a report on Variety.

Robert D. Krzykowski (The Man Who Killed Hitler) will helm the film from a screenplay he adapted from John Gardner’s novel.

“Grendel represents everything I love about the movies. John Gardner’s mad masterpiece cleverly tackles what it is to be human through the wild-eyed lens of a monster,” said Krzykowski in a statement. “It’s an honor to work with such a remarkable group of storytellers, all of whom seek to bring something wonderful and unexpected to audiences now.”

Production is set to begin later this year in Europe. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on Grendel.
