Bollywood Star Nushrat Bharucha Signs on for Crypt TV Horror Film ‘Chhori’

Last year, Crypt TV announced that they had partnered with Abundantia Entertainment to bring unique horror content to the Indian market and today Deadline is reporting that they’ve taken a strong step in that direction.

The Blumhouse-backed Crypt TV, which was founded by Eli Roth and Jack Davis, have announced that their first project will be titled Chhori and is a remake of the award-winning Marathi film Lapachhapi. Starring in Chhori is popular Bollywood actress Nushrat Bharucha who said of her casting that, “this genre excites me and the fact that the story is anchored in practices of our society, makes it relatable and impactful. I have wanted to work with Vishal Furia and I am so glad we are finally getting to collaborate on Chhori, which is so close to his heart.”

Vishal Furia, the writer and director of the original Lapachhapi, has signed on the fill the same role for Chhori. According to the Times of India, The 2017 Marathi film (Lapachhapi) caught people’s attention as it told the story of age-old societal beliefs and practices that give rise to tales of pure terror. The film’s unique blend of scary and social drama made it a thrilling as well as an emotional ride.
