Blumhouse’s ‘Unhuman’ Lands Director, Ensemble Cast

by Thomas Tuna

The next Blumhouse original horror film slated for Epix is filling in the blanks very nicely.

Marcus Dunstan–who co-wrote and directed The Collector (2009) and The Collection (2012)–has signed on to helm Unhuman, as reported by Deadline. The film is the second standalone entry in an eight-movie deal struck between Blumhouse and Epix.

Dunstan’s horror pedigree extends to scripting three of the Saw films, as well as working on FeastScary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Piranha 3DD.

Unhuman–written by Paul Soter (Club DreadDark Circles)–follows a group of high school students whose school bus crashes while on a field trip. “Relationships among the students are tested once they realize they are being stalked by a murderous attacker who intends to drive them out of their bucolic adolescence and straight into a horrifying fight to survive,” according to the official synopsis.

The cast that must deal with all this angst includes Brianne Tju (Light As a Feather), Benjamin Wadsworth (Your Honor), Ali Gallo (The Carpool) and Uriah Shelton (Freaky).

Unhuman–currently being shot in New Orleans–has Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold and Alex Kruener as executive producers.
