Blumhouse Would Love to Release ‘Friday the 13th’

by Rob Caprilozzi

Will we ever see Jason Voorhees on the big screen again? Well, if it were up to Jason Blum of Blumhouse, you would see him very soon.

In speaking with Collider about their upcoming pic Imaginary, Jason Blum mentioned that he would love to greenlight Friday the 13th at Blumhouse. “Friday the 13th is what I would do. It’s not a Blumhouse project, but I’m trying to will it into being one. It’s just a piece of IP I’ve always loved.”

Who might direct the film you ask? Well, with the recent merger between Blumhouse and Atomic Monster complete, the answer was none other than his new partner. “James Wan and Atomic Monster are very passionate about it, and I think we would have them shepherd it for us. That would be a lot of fun.”

As much as Blum wants Friday the 13th to be under the Blumhouse banner, would it be the right fit for this legendary franchise? Hardcore horror fans have extremely mixed feelings with the way Blumhouse handled both the Halloween series and The Exorcist.

As readers may recall, A24 is working on a Friday the 13th TV series which will appear on Peacock later this year.

Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on Friday the 13th.
