Shall we play a game? Horrors!

Genre giant Blumhouse Productions is branching out into the video game universe with a new subsidiary, Blumhouse Games, according to a report on Variety.

The new division reportedly will produce and publish “indie budget” video games “in the spirit of its film business.” One of the goals will be to “enable innovation and push creative boundaries” for horror-themed games for console, PC and mobile platforms.

Leading Blumhouse Games in working with independent game developers will be veteran game producer Zach Wood as president and former PlayStation executive Don Sechler as chief financial officer.

Blumhouse president Abhijay Prakash said the two new executives “articulated an approach that resonated with Blumhouse’s  model, and we knew it was a perfect place to start our push into the interactive space. They are the ideal leaders to leverage Blumhouse’s genre strengths into gaming.”
