Bill Skarsgard Opens Up About Count Orlok in ‘Nosferatu’

by Rob Caprilozzi

Count Orlok draws closer.

While horror fans eagerly await the first look at Count Orlok from Nosferatu, Esquire tracked down Bill Skarsgard to talk about his role as the evil vampire in the upcoming feature.

Esquire notes that Skarsgard worked with an opera singer to bring his voice down to its lowest possible pitch and spent hours upon hours each day in makeup and prosthetics. The actor also mentions that he was largely isolated from the rest of the cast, during prep as well as during the shoot.

“It took its toll,” says Skarsgard. “It was like conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me.”

The official synopsis of the film reads “Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”

Directed by Robert Eggers, Nosferatu stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, Simon McBurney and Ralph Ineson.

The film is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2024. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on Nosferatu.
