Even a creature can use some cheering up.
At the age of 91, Ricou Browning, the beloved actor who played the Gill-Man in the underwater scenes of The Creature From the Black Lagoon, is having some health problems.
According to Ron Adams of Creepy Classics, he received a call from Ricou Browning’s daughter letting him know that Ricou is not in good health and any letters or Get Well cards would be very appreciated.
A Universal Monsters classic, The Creature from the Black Lagoon was released on February 12, 1954. Directed by Jack Arnold, the film starred Richard Carlson, Julie Adams and Richard Denning. Ricou Browning played the Gill-Man in the underwater scenes with Ben Chapman playing the character while on land. The film went on to spawn two sequels: Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us. Browning would go on to play the Gill-Man once again in both films.
In 1964 Ricou Browning teamed with Jack Cowden to create the television show Flipper. The series, which followed a bottlenose dolphin, consisted of three seasons totaling 88 episodes. Years later the duo would unite once again to film the cult classic Mr. No Legs.
In addition to his film career, Browning was a guest at the 2016 edition of CT HorrorFest where he greeted and signed autographs for scores of fans.
