It’s all about survival.
The Last of Us–the highly anticipated series based on the Naughty Dog video game sensation–is almost ready to debut on HBO Max, and a special behind-the-scenes featurette is here (check it out on this page) that spotlights the people behind and in front of the cameras.
“It is going to be beautiful, terrifying, but ultimately enlightening."

In the video, series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann–as well as stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey–discuss their approach to the show and their attachment to the storyline.
The 10-episode first season–which kicks off Jan. 15–is set some years after a fungal plague has wiped out much of humanity, transforming many into vicious zombie-like monsters. Against this backdrop, Joel (Pascal), a smuggler trying to survive during this deadly outbreak, meets up with young Ellie (Ramsey) and the pair trek across the wasteland of the devastated U.S.–as monsters rear up around every turn.
The series also stars Gabriel Luna as Joel’s kid brother Tommy; Merle Dandridge as Marlene, leader of the resistance movement known as the Fireflies; Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in the quarantine zone; Anna Tory as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner; Lamar Johnson as Henry; and Kelvonn Woodard as Sam.
The ensemble also includes Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
