The sound you hear is the sobbing of millions of children.
In an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle, the producers of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey are retelling another children’s classic–Bambi–in their own bizarre fashion.
And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Bambi: The Reckoning is scheduled to start principal photography this summer. There is no word yet regarding casting or a release window.
The plot of the new film reportedly will involve “a mutated killer deer in the vein of Cujo.” Does Stephen King know about this?
This new movie is based on the 1923 Felix Salten novel Bambi, A Life in the Woods, which recently entered the public domain, making it ripe for adaptation by ambitious filmmakers. Scott Jeffrey will direct and produce, along with Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the man responsible for the Pooh horror pic.
ITN Studios will handle distribution domestically, while Premiere Entertainment has the rights to Latin America, Germany, Italy, France, Australia, the Far East and Middle East and other countries.
