Bad Robot Developing ‘Constantine’ Reboot for HBO Max

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is developing a darker version of DC Comics’ Constantine for HBO Max with Guy Bolton set to write, according to a report on Deadline.

The new series will cover the character of John Constantine, a British exorcist and occult detective, as a young Londoner. The casting is said to be a departure from the version played by Matt Ryan on the 2014 CW series. This will mark the third live-action depiction of the character. First appearing in 2005’s Constantine, played by Keanu Reeves, before getting his own series as a part of the CW’s Arrowverse. A shared DC universe of television series connected to the Arrow series. The character has made appearances in Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the animated films Justice League Dark, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, and Constantine: City of Demons.

This is the latest project Bad Robot has picked up for HBO Max. The WarnerMedia streamer has already greenlit Overlook, a series inspired by Stephen King’s The Shining, Duster, and a Justice League Dark series.
