Bronson Pinchot Joins Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ Series

Right from Deadline, Bronson Pinchot, star of 90’s sitcom Perfect Strangers has been brought on for a recurring role opposite Kiernan Shipka in Netflix’s upcoming Sabrina the Teenage Witch dark reboot.

Pinchot is cast to play George Hawthorne, Baxter High’s villainous principal. The character is known for being a constant thorn in the main character’s side, always trying to thwart the heroine and her friends’ escapades.

Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also the chief creative officer of Archie Comics, wrote the script for the new series. Aguirre-Sacasa will also be director on the drama and be executive producer alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger. Hailing from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions, the cast includes Miranda Otto, Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who), newcomer Chance Perdomo and Jaz Sinclair (Easy, The Vampire Diaries). read more read more

‘The Crow’ Reboot Gets Release Date

This just in from Variety, the long gestating reboot for The Crow has landed a release date for Oct. 11, 2019 from Sony Pictures.

The second adaptation of James O’Barr’s master comic book has been in development hell since 2009 when director Stephen Norrington was set to film. Through the years a string of directors and lead actors were attached. Names including Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, Channing Tatum, Luke Evans and Jack Huston were at one point or another set to star but eventually all dropped out due to unavailability. read more read more

‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Reboot Gets New Cast Members

This just in courtesy of Deadline, the new Dark Tales of Sabrina Netflix series has cast more lead characters with a wealth of fresh talent.

Jaz Sinclair (Easy) has been chosen to play Rosalind Walker, Sabrina’s best friend. As the daughter of Greendale’s minister, she is described as “brash, empowered, and outspoken.”

Hilda Spellman, one of Sabrina’s two witch aunts, is to be played by British actress Lucy Davis, known for her work on the UK version of The Office and 2017’s live action Wonder Woman. Sabrina’s other aunt, named Zelda, has not been cast as of yet. read more read more

‘The Cloverfield Paradox’: The Horror News Network Review

The Cloverfield Paradox premiered on Netflix almost immediately following its first trailer which aired during the Super Bowl. While the move was certainly unexpected, it makes sense that such an extreme shift in marketing and film distribution would be attempted by a franchise which all but founded counter-marketing strategies such as alternate reality games and MySpace profiles to promote 2008’s Cloverfield. Overall, when looking beyond the circumstances of The Cloverfield Paradox’s abrupt release, the movie offers up many new questions about the Clover-verse, and it ultimately lived up to my modest expectations for the film. read more read more

Original Stephen King Books and Manuscripts Ruined by Water Main Break

This just in from Bangor Daily News, Gerald Winters’ rare book store, Gerald Winters & Son, in Bangor, Maine, suffered a devastating blow when a water main burst that flooded his basement, soaking the pages of dozens of first and limited-edition Stephen King books, galleys, signed copies, prints in different languages and rare ephemera.

Winters said he estimates he lost about 2,000 books, and as many as seven of King’s original typed manuscripts. These include Dolan’s Cadillac, Maximum Overdrive and The Eyes of the Dragon. He also collected rare and signed copies of works from J.R.R. Tolkien, some dating back 80 years. read more read more

Gillian Anderson Receives Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Emmy-winning actress Gillian Anderson has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was unveiled on Monday, Jan. 8.

Anderson’s star is the 2,625th since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961.

Known best for her co-headlining role of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the science fiction series The X-Files, Anderson received Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy nominations from ‘96 to ‘99, winning in ‘97 for her performance in the series. She won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress the same year. read more read more

Dark ‘Sabrina’ Gets First Concept Art

Earlier this month, it was reported the new rendition of Sabrina the Teenage Witch is actually getting a two season order from Netflix rather than airing on The CW Network, and today series executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed the first piece of concept art for the series.

Looking just as twisted as the comics from which it originated, the artwork depicts the main character surrounded by vast woods observing a bright and burning fire. read more

‘Kill or Be Killed’ Film Adaptation Gets Director

Kill or Be Killed, a comic book from Winter Soldier creator Ed Brubaker, is making its way to the big screen with John Wick director Chad Stahelski behind the camera.

Teaming back up with Wick producer Basil Iwanyk, Stahelski, also a stunt coordinator, put his knowledge of action to use with the 2014 breakout hit starring Keanu Reeves. He followed up with 2017’s John Wick: Chapter Two and is currently in pre-production on John Wick: Chapter Three. The remake of The Highlander is also on his directorial slate. Stahelski is represented by WME and Gang Tyre. read more read more

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Gets First Trailer

Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, featuring the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

A franchise going on 25 years, the Jurassic film series returns in 2018 with its fifth entry and many familiar faces coming with it.

Stars Pratt and Howard are returning alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow for Fallen Kingdom. The two leads  are joined by co-stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones and Rafe Spall. BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles as Henry Wu and Ian Malcolm respectively. read more read more

‘The Strangers’ Sequel Gets First Official Trailer

Premiering Thursday, 11/16, Aviron Pictures has released the first official trailer for The Strangers: Prey at Night, the sequel to the 2008 cult horror film.

While in production hell for nine years, Prey at Night  began filming in June 2017 in Covington, Kentucky and concluded on July 10. It will finally be released on March 9, 2018. Johannes Roberts, known for his directorial work on 47 Meters Down, helmed the film.

The story follows a family on a road trip that takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive. read more read more
