Atmospheric Poster Released For Different ‘Doctor Jekyll’

The silhouette says it all.

The new Hammer Studios Doctor Jekyll–a “modern twist on the classic horror”–is currently in post-production in the UK, and this week saw the release of a poster that offers the first look at Eddie Izzard in the titular role. Check out the moody poster–courtesy of collider.com–on this page.

This new (and altogether different) take on the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale of good vs. evil–directed by Joe Stephenson from a screenplay by Dan Kelly-Mulhern–follows the “reclusive Nina Jekyll (Izzard) as she finds friendship with newly hired help Rob (Scott Chambers),” according to the synopsis. “The pair must work together to prevent Hyde from destroying her life.”

The rest of the ensemble includes Lindsay Duncan, Simon Callow, Jonathan Hyde, Tony Jayawardena and Robyn Cara. Stephenson is also producing the film, along with Guy de Beaujeu and Liam Coutts. The executive producer is Christian Angermayer.

Doctor Jekyll–currently being shopped at the Cannes Film Festival–does not yet have a release window.

Izzard said she was “very excited” to be playing the reimagining in a “modern way.” And Stephenson added that he can’t wait to “bring this suspenseful take on the iconic classic to life.”
