‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ Cancelled by Starz

by Larry Dwyer

It’s a sad day for horror fans and fans of Ashley J. Williams’ brand of humor and Deadite-slaying as Variety has reported that Starz has cancelled the popular gore-fest after three seasons.

According to Variety, “the show had seen a steep fall off in its ratings during Season 3, averaging just a 0.08 rating in adults 18-49 and 177,000 viewers per episode with two episodes remaining in the season.”

Bruce Campbell added to the Hollywood Reporter, “Ash vs. Evil Dead has been the ride of a lifetime. Ash Williams was the role of a lifetime. It was an honor to reunite with Evil Dead partners Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi to give our tireless fans another taste of the outrageous horror/comedy they demanded. I will always be grateful to Starz for the opportunity to revisit the franchise that launched our careers.”

Unless Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell can find a new home for the series, April 29th will be the finale for the much-loved Ash vs. Evil Dead.

A sad day indeed.
