Army of Darkness vs. Hack/Slash #1 Review

Review by: Rob Caprilozzi

Writer: Tim Seeley
Art: Daniel Leister

Synopsis: After the events of the HACK/SLASH series, Cassie Hack is doing her best to live a normal life. But a Deadite attack forces Cassie back into action and this time, she's not alone! Meet Cassie's new partner: Ashley J. Williams! Can the pair keep from killing each other long enough to quest for the stolen pages from the Book of the Dead? Will Ash get some sugar? Or will Cassie make him kiss it? It's the horror mash-up that fans demanded!

Our Thoughts: We were eager to dive in to our early review copy of AoD vs. Hack/Slash #1 and we are very happy we did. The issue delivers big time and sets up what can be an amazing horror crossover series.

At first there is the usual hero vs. hero miscommunication battle but after that all bets are off! Things then turn really creepy, really fast as something is not right with the babysitter. What follows is blood, decapitations, more blood, severed limbs and fire.

While some crossovers seem forced, this one seems to really work. The character of Cassie Hack seems like a character that can be in the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness universe. This helps with the story pacing and dialogue. Speaking of which, Tim Seeley does a masterful job in meshing both characters into one story.

AOD vs. Hack/Slash is one crossover not to be missed!
