‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark’ Returns For Third Season

Nickelodeon is taking horror fans to a ghost island this Halloween season.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Ghost Island–the third season of the revival of the popular 1990s series–is now in production with an eye toward a possible debut sometime around Halloween, according to a report on comicbook.com.

The four-episode Season 3 of the horror anthology miniseries also will feature new members of the Midnight Society, “as the gather around the campfire to share spooky stories,” according to the logline. “This new group of kids go on what they thought would be a fun summer vacation–until they learn something sinister is haunting the guests.”

The new members of the Midnight Society include Kayla (Telci Huynh), Max (Conor Sherry), Leo (Luca Padovan), Summer (Dior Goodjohn) and Ferris (Chance Hurstfield). Julian Curtis also stars as Stanley Crane, the hotel manager at the island resort.

The series–led by showrunner J.T. Billings and executive producer/director Dean Israelite–has Matt Kaplan, Chris Foss and Paul Kim on board as executive producers.

The show has been a hit with fans and critics, receiving a Writers Guild Award and a nomination for a Directors Guild Award.
