Variety is reporting that Apple has entered into an agreement with A24 to will produce a slate of films for the tech giant. It will be interesting to see what becomes of this agreement as many of A24’s flicks receive an R rating while Apple is known as a family-oriented company. While there are no details as of yet on the deal, it is said to be a multiyear agreement and involve multiple films.
Since coming on the scene in 2012, A24 has brought a solid slate of horror/sci-fi films including Ex Machina, The Witch, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, It Comes at Night, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Hereditary. As of 2018, A24 has received a whopping twenty-four Academy Award nominations.
The deal with Apple does not affect the current deals A24 currently has in place with DirecTV to acquire films for US distribution and their deal with Amazon which its films appear on Amazon Prime.
