Prepare to be unhinged…again.
The 1982 slasher Unhinged will receive a second remake from Proportion Productions and ChampDog Films, according to a report on Screen Rant.
The new film will be produced by Scott Jeffrey (the new Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror flick), Rebecca Matthews and Louisa Warren, who reportedly are looking for a director at this time.
This remake will star Ella Starbuck (Wishmaker), Betsy-Blue English (Which is Witch), Sian Altman (Graphic Designs), Toby Wynn-Davies (Nefarious) and newcomer Chloe Karr.
The feature reportedly will be a “close remake” of the original, but with a “modern setting.” Jeffrey said the movie will be “suspenseful and dark with a shocking twist.”
The original Unhinged–directed by Don Gronquist from a screenplay he wrote with Reagan Ramsey–follows three college students–Terry, Nancy and Gloria–who, after suffering a car accident, are taken in by a mysterious family at their rural Pacific Northwest mansion. But, before long, the students are stalked by a violent murderer.
Produced on a budget of just $100,000, the original was released direct-to-video in the UK, and was screened in the U.S. at the Northwest Film & Video Festival in Portland in 1983. The film has drawn comparisons to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 Psycho.
