The horror pic–which gets a theatrical release Sept. 8 from Warner Bros. Pictures–is directed by Michael Chavez from a screenplay by Akela Cooper. The cast is led by Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Bonnie Aarons as the demon Valak, along with Storm Reid. (Horror fans: Remember Bonnie Aarons will be a special guest as Connecticut HorrorFest Sept. 23-24).
The Nun II is set in 1956 France, four years after the end of the first film, as Sister Irene once again comes face-to-face with the demonic Valak at a boarding school.
The original The Nun–directed by Corin Hardy from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman–is the highest-grossing installment in The Conjuring Universe, having earned $365 million worldwide on a $22-million budget.
