Don’t pack for that trek into the forest just yet.
Sons of the Forest–Endnight Games’ much-delayed sequel to its horror survival video game The Forest–this week was bumped back from its last reported May 20 release date to an October debut.
The developers took to Twitter to make the announcement and unveil a very brief gameplay teaser. Check out the tweet–courtesy of comicbook.com–on this page.
Hey Everyone,
Over these past few weeks, we have realized that our May 2022 release date for Sons Of The Forest was overly ambitious. To be able to deliver our vision of the next step in survival games, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 2022

The Forest–released in 2018 for PC and PlayStation 4–is set in a remote, heavily forested peninsula where the player character Eric Leblanc and his son Timmy have survived a plane crash. But other horrors await.
The game, as explained, features nonlinear gameplay in an open world environment, and is played from a first-person perspective. There are no set missions, so players can make their own decisions in order to survive encounters with cannibalistic mutants.
Indications are that the sequel will more or less follow this format, but with the horror elements ratcheted up a bit. Platforms for the game have not yet been announced.
