The winds are really picking up.

Twisters–the follow-up to the 1996 disaster thriller–this week added another cast member before filming starts, according to Variety.

Brandon Perea (Nope) has joined Anthony Ramos, Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones in the feature that’s headed for a July 19, 2024 theatrical release. No character details have been revealed.

The sequel–from Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures–is directed by Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film reportedly will be a “new chapter” of the original film.

The original Twister–directed by Jan de Bont from a screenplay by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin–stars Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman as a group of amateur storm chasers trying to deploy a tornado research device during a severe Oklahoma storm.
