American Horror Story – Pink Cupcakes
By Lynn Sorel
Synopsis: Stanley and Maggie hatch a plan to murder the Freaks. Gloria hides the evidence of Dandy’s gruesome new hobby. A health scare reveals Desiree may not be the oddity she once thought.
Our Thoughts: This episode begins by laying the ground work for Stanley’s plans to murder the freaks. Maggie is clearly not on board with it after spending time with them. Elsa seems like she might be too smart for Stanley’s plot, but after a bad show, she appears to be falling into the trap.
Gloria finally sees what Dandy really is and tries to rationalize it and cover up his crime rather than turn him in like she should. His underwear scene reminded me of the horror film “American Psycho,” and Patrick Bateman, with all his arrogance and murderous rage. His next kill is even more brutal than the last, thought he’s still getting the hang of it. In true Dandy fashion, this one is no less humorous than everything else he’s done to this point.
Desiree bleeds during a romantic encounter with Jimmy and finds out that she actually has an enlarged clitoris, not a penis, and had just suffered a miscarriage. Meanwhile, Dell appears to be leading a double life and has a boyfriend, or rather thinks he does, in a twist that actually explains a lot about him. I was extremely happy that Desiree finally leaves him.
Gabourey Sidibe, from last season, makes a brief appearance as Dora’s daughter in a phone call to Gloria asking about her mother. The whole thing with Bette and Dot was a bit confusing and we have yet to see what actually happened to them. To me, from the previews, it looks like Dandy is going to kill them, but how does Stanley end up with them? I can’t wait to see how it goes down! Until next week, freaks!
