The spell has been cast.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches–the enormously popular AMC adaptation of the horror author’s classic trilogy–will return for Season 2, according to a report on Deadline. Production on the next season is expected to start later this year in New Orleans.

The eight-episode first season–led by showrunner and executive producer Esta Spalding–reportedly was the most-viewed AMC+ series, edging out Interview with the Vampire and the final season of The Walking Dead.

The show follows a young neurosurgeon, Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario), who discovers she is “the unlikely heir to a family of witches,” according to the synopsis.

As Fielding deals with her newfound powers, she “must also contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.” The show also stars Jack Huston, Tongayi Chirisa and Harry Hamlin.
