AMC Drops Teaser Trailer For ‘Interview With The Vampire’

Take a look at how the vampires live…

The first teaser for AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s classic 1976 Interview with the Vampire was released this week, and a debut window of this fall was announced. Check out the video–courtesy of comicbook.com–on this page.

The too-short tease doesn’t reveal much, but fans do get a glimpse at the mansion where (presumably) Lestat and Louis are living their undead lives. The brief shot of two coffins is a dead giveaway.

The eight-episode first season–led by creator and showrunner Rolin Jones and director Alan Taylor–stars Sam Reid as Lestat, Jacob Anderson as Louis, Bailey Bass as Claudia, Assad Zaman as Rashid, Christian Robinson as Levi, Kalyne Coleman as Grace and Eric Bogosian as the interviewer Molloy.

Executive producer Mark Johnson said the creative team took great pains with this series. “Developing this series carries great pressure and responsibility,” he said. While making sure not to disappoint Rice’s legions of fans, “we need to make sure this story and these characters sing for a modern audience,” he added.

Johnson said his hope is that “those viewers who have never read an Anne Rice novel run to the bookstore eager to understand what all the fuss is about.”

The bestselling novel had a big-screen adaptation back in 1994–with an all-star cast of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst and Christian Slater. The film related the otherworldly adventures of Lestat and Louis, beginning with Louis’ transformation into a vampire by Lestat in 1791.
