‘A Quiet Place’ Sequel Announced

by Nick Banks

Be really quiet….now scream!! Paramount Studio Chief Jim Gianopulos announced at CinemaCon that an inevitable sequel to A Quiet Place is indeed in the works.

Gianopulos stated “If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, ‘Well, I should go work at Paramount.'”

In other movie news, according to the Hollywood Reporter, J.J Abrams,”…also appeared by video to tease the horror film Overlord, and to announce a new Cloverfield movie was in the works” and he was also clear, unlike earlier reports that Overlord “… is not a Cloverfield movie.  We are actually developing a true, creative Cloverfield sequel.”

In fact, A Quiet Place almost became an entry in the meandering Cloverfield franchise, and was confirmed by writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods in an interview with Slashfilm, stating that “…was one of those things that, I guess it crossed our mind and we had spoken to our representatives about that possibility. It was weird timing, though, because when we were writing the script, 10 Cloverfield Lane was at Paramount. We were actually talking to an executive there about this film, and it felt from pitch form that there might be crossover, but when we finally took the final script in to Paramount, they saw it as a totally different movie.”
