‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Has Made Lupita Nyong’o a Cat Lover

by Rob Caprilozzi

Lupita Nyong’o thinks A Quiet Place: Day One is purr-fect.

Nyong’o, who plays the role of Samira in the new film, had a furry little co-star that she initially wasn’t quite sure of. According to a report on Deadline, the actress begged director Michael Sarnoski to consider a different animal for the part. When Sarnoski refused, Nyong’o had to rise to the challenge.

In speaking with CBS Mornings, Nyong’o stated that “I’ve been terrified of cats my entire life. “I wouldn’t be in a room with a cat, I would cry … I just found them suspicious, you know? They’re like little lions, and like, if they were any bigger, they would eat us.”

How did she overcome her fear you ask? She tried exposure therapy, which involves releasing cats in her presence at her home. It worked. Nyong’o is now the proud owner of an orange tabby cat named Yoyo.

As for her furry co-star in A Quiet Place: Day One, the Instagram post from Nyong’o, which can be seen below, they’re best of friends now.
