‘Hellsing’ is a Japanese manga series written by Kouta Hirano that focuses on a group called The Hellsing Organization whose primary focus is identifying and eliminating vampires and other supernatural beings in England. The crew is named after its original founder, Abraham Van Helsing.
If that all sounds great to you, hold your horses because deadline has reported that Amazon Studios has snatched up Derek Kolstad, the writer of the John Wick series, to turn this bad boy into a live-action feature film.
When asked about the opportunity to turn ‘Hellsing’ into a film, Kolstad said, “ever since my brother introduced me to the ‘Hellsing’ manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it, and when [producer] Mike Callaghan and his team managed to secure the rights to then partner us up with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Amazon, I mean -damn, dude- this is a dream.” Producer Mike Callaghan added, “Kouta Hirano’s gonzo reimagining of the Dracula-Van Helsing mythology is an exhilarating, quirky mashup of action and horror that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before.”
We’re on board. Stick around for more news on Hellsing as it comes available.
