Talk about a dream team…..Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and director/producer/actor extraordinaire Eli Roth are bringing the heat. According to Deadline, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television company, Roth and entertainment studio 3BlackDot have agreed to a three-picture film deal collaboration which will ensure that Fitty becomes as big a player in the horror world as he became in both the rap and vitamin water landscapes. Roth crossing over into hip hop has not yet been discussed.
The three power players will join forces, with 3BlackDot providing the financing and serving as the studio for all three films. It’s still early in the process, so no projects have yet been announced. “I am so excited about collaborating with 50 Cent, James Frey and the whole team at G-Unit, 3BlackDot, and the incredible producorial team at Arts District of Roger Birnbaum and Michael Besman,” said Roth. “We want to make the movies others are too afraid to make.”
The deal will benefit all entities involved tremendously. For 50 Cent, it allows his G-Unit Film & Television to venture into the horror genre, a previously un-tapped market to this point. 3BlackDot now has the chance to leverage its resources in gaming, publishing, and merchandise to new and bigger heights. But perhaps the biggest winner is Eli Roth himself. Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno) can once again dip his toes into the horror pool creatively. While his resume is as strong as they come, his most recent contribution for fans of the macabre came in 2018 with his series Eli Roth’s History of Horror on AMC (now streaming on Shudder.)
