’28 Years Later’ Gets Official Release Date

Things are moving in the right direction for the next installment(s) of the 28 Days Later franchise. Deadline is reporting that Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later will be running into theaters on June 20, 2025.

Just last week we reported that Jack O’Connell was the latest addition to the cast. He joins Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes on the film which is slated to be a trilogy. Danny Boyle is set to direct the initial film with Candyman director Nia DaCosta signed to handle the second film. Rumors are that the films will shoot back-to-back.

Released on June 27, 2003, 28 Days Later was directed by Danny Boyle and starred Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns and Brendan Gleeson. The film went on to introduce us to a new type of “zombie” which earning $84.6 million at the box office against a budget of only $8 million. In 2007 a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was released and picked up six months after the original epidemic.
