The trailer for the supernatural thriller ‘The Forest’ has been released. The film centers around Japan’s legendary Aokigahara Forest, also known as “Suicide Forest”. It has been long associated with demons of Japanese mythology. It is a popular place to commit suicide, with 105 bodies found in 2003 alone. In the 1980s an estimated 100 suicides happened every year in the forest. With the problem being as bad as it is, there are now signs marking the entrance of the forest which urge people to consider their families and to seek help before taking their own lives.
Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games) stars in the film as a woman who travels to Japan to save her twin sister who disappeared in Aokigahara. There she is confronted by the tormented souls of the the dead. Jason Zada directs from a script by David S. Goyer, Nick Antosca, Ben Ketai, and Sarah Cornwell.
