Vega, Baby! Acquires ‘The Man in the Orange Jacket’

Vega, Baby! has acquired the North American rights to Aik Karapetian’s ‘The Man in the Orange Jacket’.   The Latvian slasher film is written and directed by first-time director Aik Karapetian.  The story is centered around a rich business man who lays off his striking workers, when one of them decides to take revenge on him and his family.

The film screened at Canada’s Fantasia, BFI London, Telluride Horror and Austin’s Fantastic Fest.  The Singapore-based distribution company is planning a theatrical and VOD release, soon to be announced.

Vega, Baby! president and CEO Adam Ripp said “Punctuated with moments of terror, violence and insanity, The Man in the Orange Jacket is an elevated horror film inspired by classics like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.”

The London review by The Hollywood Reporter said the film is “a stylish, ambitious, politically charged psycho-thriller.” The review went on to say The Man in the Orange Jacket should appeal to “genre fans who favor highbrow psychological mystery over high body counts.”
