‘The Walking Dead’s’ Negan Will Appear as a DLC Character in ‘Tekken 7’

Tekken, one of the most popular fighting games in video game history, has just added an unlikely character to their upcoming Tekken 7 Season Pass 2: The Walking Dead’s very own bat swingin’ bad boy Negan.  The “too cool for school” leader of the Saviors will be available as a down loadable character (meaning that he did not appear on the physical release of the game or with the initial download), as part of the update, joining over 40 other character selections.

The news was announced on Bandai’s official twitter page and was met with a luke warm response from fans and video game news sites.  EuroGamer called the inclusion of Negan “an odd one”  and wondered “Who next? Logan Paul?”.  Gamesradar+ don’t think that Negan is “…going to be included in the game until 2019 but, still, this has opened the floodgates in what’s sure to be one of Tekken’s most polarising and downright potty moves yet. And this is coming from a franchise that has a man with a three-foot haircut regularly facing off with his nemesis, a bear employed as a bodyguard.”

In most cases, Tekken’s surprise characters come from other fighting games such as Fatal Fury or beloved video game franchises such as Final Fantasy.  Going in this direction has surprised and angered some fans since the inclusion of Negan essential “takes a spot” that may have gone to a character that makes more sense in a martial arts game like Tekken.
