The Outer Darkness Part 1 – Review

By Lynn Sorel

Rating: 7 out of 10

Synopsis: On Friday evenings in Lynnsmouth Community Centre, meets a group led by Father Jonathan Crowe. Together they share their stories – tales of strange occurrences, horrific events and bizarre encounters that have scarred their lives.

Our Thoughts: Unique, gory and twisted, ‘The Outer Darkness’ is a promising new web series from the creators of ‘Bloody Cuts.’ The short film starts off with a support group talking about what appears to be their addictions, when a new woman arrives and tells the story of a deadly game she and her family played with a demon croupier to try to win her dead daughter back. The cost of losing is much higher and bloodier than they can imagine.

With excellent special effects, an otherworldly atmosphere, and an interesting supernatural story, I quite enjoyed the ‘The Outer Darkness.’ The acting was quite good for such a such a small film. Jonny Phillips was excellent as the terrified Father Crowe, alongside Isla Carter, who was great as the desperate Jenny. As a huge fan of anthology horror shows, I’m quite excited to see more of this web series. I can’t wait to see what the demon has in store for the Father and his group!
