‘The New Mutants’ Gets Trailer for April Release

Like fresh mouthwash after some bad Dark Phoenix breath, the final film in the X-Men film series made under 20th Century Fox has a brand new trailer anticipating its April 3 release and it looks better than ever.

Watch it here!

In the film, five young mutants just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will must fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

Cast members include Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split) as Magik, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot and Blu Hunt (CW’s The Originals) as Mirage.

Coming from a troubled production history, filming initially was in Boston from July to September 2017, mainly at Medfield State Hospital with the thought of an April 13, 2018 release. However, the film was then delayed while re-shoots to make the film more horrifying were planned. Ultimately they never took place and the release date moved to February 22, 2019, then August 2, 2019 and finally ending up on April 3, 2020.

Director Josh Boone posted an update on his official Instagram page confirming that his original vision is what audiences will see upon the film’s release.

While being released by Disney, the different take on the film than previous X-Men movies could potentially be a home run for comic and horror fans alike.

Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
