‘The Monster Squad’ Documentary Gets Trailer Ahead of Home Release

As a box office disappointment turned legendary cult classic, 1987’s The Monster Squad‘s extensive story will finally be told to a wide audience with the documentary Wolfman’s Got Nards, an in-depth look at the film’s journey through the last 33 years.

Directed by Andre Gower who starred as Sean Crenshaw, the film’s lead character, WGN‘s home release trailer can be seen here!

Directed by Fred Dekker and co-written by Shane Black, The Monster Squad is the story of a group of outcast pre-teens whose love for classic monster films made them prepared for a nightmare that came over their town; the return of Count Dracula, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Frankenstein’s monster.

According to the doc’s web site synopsis, WGN explores the relationship a dedicated audience (including celebrities and filmmakers) has with The Monster Squad. This documentary takes an in-depth look into the film’s conception, response, cult status and revival. Through interviews with the cast, crew, screenwriters, directors, academics and original reviewers as well as through never-before-seen footage, it turns the lens on an audience of self-proclaimed misfits who have kept The Monster Squad alive since it was first released.

WGN will be released on Video-On-Demand and Blu-ray for October 27, check back soon for more!

Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
