After a busy, but underwhelming summer for horror films, this fall season offers a few less offerings than this past summer (and last fall). The upside for horror fans (and studio executives) is the fact that this fall will bring two heavyweight Stephen King adaptations to the table, with one that is all but guaranteed to do some major damage at the box office: the jump-scare machine entitled It: Chapter Two. The fall will also see the debut of King’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, by the fan favorite creator of The Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan.
Ten years ago Zombieland delighted movie-goers with it’s horror/comedy/zombie ways and now the sequel, Zombieland Double Tap, is set to begin filming this week. According to Deadline, Rosario Dawson (Death Proof, Sin City) has been added to the cast joining other Zombieland newcomers Zoey Deutch (Everybody Wants Some!) and Avan Jogia (Now Apocalypse); the cast also includes original members Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin.
In a pretty genius move, the poster for this new installment of the Sony film was released via the Zombieland Twitter account as a #10YearChallenge post (see below) and they’ve all aged pretty nicely for spending ten years in a zombie wasteland! According to Deadline, Zombieland Double Tap, “centers on the comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland. The zombie slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. Most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.” read more
