Andrew Lincoln Considers a Rick Grimes-less ‘Walking Dead’

EW reporter Dalton Ross recently speculated what The Walking Dead would be like without titular character Rick Grimes.  It appears that Andrew Linclon and Robert Kirkman have also considered it.

Ross spoke to Lincoln recently, and he told Ross that “I was talking to James Badge Dale about acting, and we were just talking about completing stories.  I think that there’s an innate feeling and certainly in me that I love doing a play or doing the film because you get to put a period on the end of it and you get to do it nightly, which is really exciting. TV is different. The format is different because it is about sort of a continuum. But, you know, there is a sense to me that really needs some… it sounds like I’m in a shrink’s head, but there is a completion thing that I think I deserve for doing it for so long. And also probably the audience would like some completion.” read more

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8 and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Mid-Season 3 Trailers Debut at Comic-Con

The Walking Dead season 8 and Fear the Walking Dead mid-season 3 trailers debuted today at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

The Walking Dead trailer is over five minutes long and contains more explosions than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Commando.   It also has an odd (dream?) sequence at the end that has to be seen to be believed.

For those looking for a little more nuanced story-telling, Fear the Walking Dead’s tension-filled trailer shows some real trouble ahead for the occupants of Broke Jaw Ranch. read more

The Walking Dead Season Seven Second Half Review and Analysis

You know what always gets in the way of bashing someone in the head with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire?  A man eating tiger.

I’m willing to chalk “the tiger save” up to a little creative license (both in the comic and in the season finale), but I’ve got to ask: Why did it take so long for that big cat to get down to business?

The second half of Season Seven was much like the first in terms of the slow pacing , but with much less violence and carnage.  Although producers Gale Anne Herd  and Scott Gimple and Greg Nicotero took different stances publicly about whether or not the violence from the first half of Season Seven would be toned down, it appears that Herd was being the most truthful, as there was markedly less violence and gore than the first eight episodes. read more

AMC released the Neilsen Live+3 ratings for the mid-season return of The Walking Dead Season Seven via a press release today and reported a total of 15.9 million viewers for the episode.  This is a substantial increase over the most recent season seven episodes, which averaged just over 10.5 million viewers.

Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. stated that,“Whether you consider The Walking Dead a survivor or an empire, it is gratifying to see the show return with such a big bang, and not just in theory – ratings increases from December’s finale in an environment in which growth, when measured and reported, can feel like something of a stranger thing.” read more
