The James Cameron produced, Tim Miller (Deadpool) directed Terminator reboot has added three promising new performers to an already impressive cast. Gabriel Luna, Natalia Reyes, and Diego Boneta will join Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Mackenzie Davis in the upcoming film.
Variety reports that Gabriel Luna will play a Terminator machine in the new movie. Luna’s previous work includes the television programs Matador and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and such movies as Freeheld and Transpecos. When it was announced last month that Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049, Black Mirror) was cast in the film, the rumors at the time were that she would be playing a Terminator machine. Today’s announcement does not clarify if both she and Luna will each play one of the classic mechanical threats, or if Davis will instead be one of the protagonist characters. Natalia Reyes (Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas) and Diego Boneta (Scream Queens, Rock of Ages) have also joined the cast, but their roles have not yet been announced. read more

Fans of The Terminator have a lot to look forward to these days! In January, we reported that the rights to the franchise will revert back to James Cameron in 2019, and that he will be producing a new film with Tim Miller (Deadpool) directing. In March, Paramount removed an unnamed Terminator sequel from its release schedule, a likely indicator of the rights expiring and the studio’s lack of interest in progressing the lukewarm storyline of Terminator Genisys. All of that time, it was unclear if Arnold Schwarzenegger would be returning to the franchise. He will be notably absent from the upcoming film, The Predator; and despite the adoration of millions of hardcore fans, his name isn’t the marquee draw it used to be. However, recently at Cannes Film Festival, Arnold confirmed to Screen Daily the one thing that his rabid fan’s want to hear for the new Terminator movie: “I’ll be back!” read more

Deadline has reported that the legendary James Cameron will return to the Terminator franchise with a “reboot and conclusion of one of cinema’s great science fiction tales.” In 2019, Cameron will regain certain rights to the franchise due to a copyright reversion which will occur 35 years after the release of the original 1984 film. This allows him to return to his creation with greater creative control (and greater profits) than ever before.
Cameron is reportedly in early talks with Deadpool director, Tim Miller, to direct the film. Miller is also known for visual effects work on blockbuster video games and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. read more
