‘The Strangers’ Sequel ‘Prey at Night’ Scheduled for a March 2018 Release

The sequel to 2008’s The Strangers entitled Strangers: Prey at Night will be released on March 9, 2018.

According to ComingSoon.net, the story starts when “A family’s road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive. Johannes Roberts directs this horror film inspired by the 2008 smash hit The Strangers.” Fans of the original film have always feared a cheap sequel to one of the best horror films of the last two decades, and using the word “inspired by the Strangers” may give fans even more reason for concern.  The film is co-written by the original writer/director Bryan Bertino, but Johannes Roberts (best known for the low-budget shark tale 47 Meters Down) will be taking over directing duties for the sequel.

Strangers: Prey at Night stars Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Drive), Martin Henderson (The Ring), Bailee Madison (The Fosters), and Lewis Pullman (Battle of the Sexes).

Bryan Bertino’s The Monster: The Horror News Network Review

Given A24’s recent string of high quality horror releases and writer/director Bryan Bertino’s track record of horror success with The Strangers, expectations for The Monster were sky high by the time the first trailer for the film was released. The Monster never received a wide theatrical release, a potential warning sign for new horror films. It made its home video release this week, published on DVD and Blu-Ray by Lionsgate. While the film is sometimes inconsistent in meeting its storytelling goals, the work contains some of Bertino’s trademark directorial qualities which elevate the film from basic horror fare. This movie has heart, and its unique characters might help horror fans to overlook some of its flaws. read more
