Horror Fans Descended Upon Seymour, CT for John Carpenter Double Feature

On Saturday night, Connecticut Cult Classics paid tribute to legendary director John Carpenter by showcasing two of his films at the Strand Theater in Seymour, CT. Dubbed “John Carpenter Night” the double bill featured Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing. Fan favorite Kurt Russell starred in both films.

The 1986 classic, Big Trouble in Little China was first on the big screen. Fans roared with laughter as they watched trucker, “Jack Burton” (played by Kurt Russell) thrust into a mystic battle set in Chinatown.  Russell is joined by Kim Cattrall who plays “Gracie Law” in the film and James Hong is the evil antagonist, “Lo Pan.”

An 80’s Slasher-Versary Brings Out Horror Fans

Connecticut Cult Classics held their fourth movie showing last night at the classic Strand Theater in Seymour, CT. The night was dubbed “An 80’s Slasher-Versary,” as two 80’s slasher flicks, April Fool’s Day and The Burning were shown back to back.

As with past Cult Classic events, fans came early to enjoy the pre-movie music, trailers, and movie theater popcorn. To the surprise of all the attendees, a grab bag commemorating the event was free of charge. The bag, which had blood-stained packaging, consisted of a Cropsy loves you button, Camp Blackfoot matches and two fireballs.

CT Cult Classics Finds Horrifying Success in Seymour

This past Saturday night CT Cult Classics took over historic downtown Seymour, CT once again for its it sophomore outing presenting a Stephen King double feature. The event attracted horror fans from all over Connecticut and New York for hours of classic King terror.

Up first was Stephen King’s 1983 flick Christine which was directed by John Carpenter. Followed by rare horror classic trailers, the film was followed up by King’s collaboration with another, legendary director, George A. Romero, Creepshow. The latter, as horror fans know, is an anthology featuring some of the most iconic faces from film including Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Atkins, and even King himself.  Did you also know that the character of Billy in the “wrap around” story is played by Joe Hill, King’s son?
