Incredible characters joining unrelated franchises is nothing new to the wonderful world of video games. My personal favorite crossover was when Spawn and Link joined the cast of Soulcalibur II back in 2002 as console exclusives. NetherRealm studios have kept the tradition alive by including characters like Freddy, Jason, and The Predator to previous entries in their Mortal Kombat franchise. Today they’ve announced that an upcoming DLC pack for Injustice 2, their popular DC superhero fighting game, will be adding a popular character from an entirely different comic book universe!
Fans of The Predator are going to have to wait a little longer to get to da choppa! Fox’s film, which is directed by Shane Black, was originally scheduled to hit theaters on February 9th, 2018. The Wrap reports that the release date has now been pushed back to August 3rd, 2018. No reason was given for this delay.
The Predator began principal photography on February 20th, 2017. Since then, major talent like Yvonne Strahovski and Edward James Olmos have been added to the cast. Those announcements rolled in up until March 27th… a full month after cameras started rolling. Usually the core cast of a film is secured before principal photography begins. Now, two months into production, the release date has been pushed back by five full months. No one has come out and said that the production on the film has been troubled, but all of these developments are starting to add up. read more
It’s been a good month for Edward James Olmos! First, he revealed that he is returning as the legendary Gaff in Blade Runner 2049. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he will play a military character in The Predator!
Olmos is the second big name to be added to the film since principal photograph began in Vancouver on February 20th. This announcement follows the addition of Chuck/Dexter star Yvonne Strahovski joining the cast earlier this month. The film was star-studded before either announcement. Shane Black (who played Hawkins in the original film) is back this time pulling double duty in the writer’s and the director’s seat; and the movie will feature such talent as Alfie Allen, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, and Jacob Tremblay. read more
To help celebrate the first day of shooting for The Predator, director Shane Black took to Twitter to post the first official image for the film. The shot features Black and key cast members, and reveals some unique elements to their wardrobe:
Partial cast… beautiful human beings, good people. Also, killers. Cameras roll today. Follow me on Twitter for updates. Wish us luck. pic.twitter.com/vYGgGesW0Y

Posing with Shane Black in the photo are Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Kay, Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, and Jacob Tremblay. As you can see, the deep greens and browns of the original film are still a major part of the cast’s wardrobe. read more
So much for, “I’ll be back!”
Early reports are suggesting there’s no place for Arnold Schwarzenegger in Shane Black’s 2018 movie, The Predator. Actor Boyd Holbrook, who has recently been cast in a role originally reserved for Benicio Del Toro, told We Got This Covered the following:
“I’m currently working on Predator. It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.” read more
