Producer/Director Doug Liman (Swingers, The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) has good news for comic book fans who are getting a little sick of the constant stream of paint by numbers, derivative superhero movies with cheesy jokes that have been flooding the multiplex over the past several years. He recently sat down with Cinema Blend to discuss his vision for the upcoming Justice League Dark film, and it’s all good news for comic book fans and horror fans alike! Turns out, character development will be on display front row, center this time around, and Liman is looking to capture elements of the horror classics of the 1970s that he loves when making this movie. Here’s what he had to say:
20th Century Fox is working on a prequel to The Omen, released forty years ago, which will be titled The First Omen. Antonio Campos is in negotiations to direct the film. Campos is an indie filmmaker who directed the Sundance movie Christine.
The original film was directed by Richard Donner and starred Gregory Peck. It spawned two sequels, a series of novels, a remake in 2006, and most recently the Fox TV series Damien, which is helmed by Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead).
The script for the prequel is written by Ben Jacoby. David Goyer and Kevin Turen of Phantom Four are producing. read more
A&E’s upcoming ‘Damien’ TV series is premiering March 7 at 10 PM following ‘Bates Motel.’
The synopsis for the show reads, “After discovering his origins, Damien Thorn must cope with life as the Anti-Christ.” Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi, Megalyn Echikunwokeand Scott Wilson star in the the latest adaptation based on the horror film series and novel by David Seltzer.
