Netflix Goes “All-In” on Ted Bundy, Purchases Rights for ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’

Netflix is all aboard Ted Bundy train. Coming off the wildly popular, and controversial, documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, Netflix is reportedly paying a cool nine million dollars for the rights to the Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile according to The Huffington Post.

The film, featuring Zac Efron as Ted Bundy, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and while it received some positive reviews, it was also shunned by some for sexualizing the serial killer while glorifying his life and grisly murders. Both the documentary and the upcoming film were directed by Joe Berlinger. read more

Netflix just released the official trailer for Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. The two-minute trailer gives an inside look at America’s most notorious serial killer with video clips, interviews, and more.

The documentary is created by the Academy Award winner and seven-time Emmy nominated Joe Berlinger, whose films include Brother’s Keeper, Paradise Lost, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, Crude, and Tony Robbins: I am Not Your Guru. In addition to this, Berlinger is said to be working on another genre doc called Raising Hell: The Visions of Clive Barker. read more

Netflix Lands ‘Conversation with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes’

It looks like Netflix is set to hit it big once again with another true crime documentary series. E! News is reporting that the streaming giant promises to give an unprecedented look at serial killer Ted Bundy in Conversation with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. The series comes from Emmy-winning filmmaker Joel Berlinger whose credits include Brother’s Keeper, Paradise Lost, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, and Tony Robbins: I am Not Your Guru.

Prior to his execution via electric chair in 1989, Ted Bundy confessed to 30 murders between the years of 1974 and 1978. The serial killer was considered charismatic and handsome by many of his victims, traits which helped lure them into in a false sense of security. read more

James Hetfield of Metallica Joins Cast of ‘Extremely Wicked’ Ted Bundy Movie

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the upcoming thriller about serial killer Ted Bundy, just added a surprising new name to its impressive cast. In addition to Zac Efron, Lily Collins, John Malkovich, Angela Sarafyan, and Kaya Scodelario, the film will also feature Metallica frontman James Hetfield in a key role!

Variety reports that Hetfield will play, “Officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his car, but wisely suspecting much worse.” read more

Zac Efron to Portray Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

Variety is reporting that Zac Efron will portray infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in director Joe Berlinger’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

The film is set to begin shooting on October 9th, 2017 and producer Nicholas Chartier was excited to sign Efron for the role, stating that “I have been trying to work with Zac Efron for a long time. From his dramatic turn in Paperboy to his hilarious performance in Neighbors, he continues to impress audiences and critics alike with his extraordinary versatility and range. We couldn’t be more excited to see him in this amazing role.” read more
