Criterion Collection Acquires Rights to Classic Godzilla Films

Godzilla-Movies.com has confirmed that Janus Films/The Criterion Collection has recently acquired the rights to fourteen classic Godzilla films for broadcast on Starz and possible release under the Criterion brand.

Criterion’s Jon Mulvaney told the website that “It’s true! Janus Films and the Criterion Collection have the rights to these Godzilla films and Starz is licensing them from us. We hope to make them available on other platforms in the future. Please stay tuned!”  Hopefully the reference to “other platforms” also includes the popular Criterion Collection blu-ray series, as many of these films have never been remastered or made available in any format for over a decade. read more

Ash vs. Evil Dead Already a Go for Season 3!

With just one episode of season two in the books, Starz has announced that it has renewed Ash vs. Evil Dead for a third season. While no surprise to fans of the show, the move to announce the renewal so quickly can be seen as a signal to other networks that television viewers have not yet had their fill of mainstream horror TV shows just yet.

The announcement also came one day after cast members appeared in a panel at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York as a part of the annual New York Comic-Con. At the panel, series regulars Bruce Campbell, Dana DeLorenzo, Ray Santiago, Lucy Lawless, Ted Raimi, and Michelle Hurd were joined by the legendary Lee Majors who plays Ash’s father in season two. read more

ASH VS EVIL DEAD’s Bruce Campbell to Campaign to Make “Emmys Groovy Again”

Bruce Campbell will be campaigning to make the “Emmys groovy again” and aim for a Lead Actor In A Comedy Series nom for his role on Ash Vs Evil Dead.  There will be billboards going up in the next week around intersections like Sunset and Fairfax in Los Angeles to promote his role as Ash Williams in the Starz series. He will be taking a less traditional route, with a fan-driven social media and digital paid advertising campaign. It starts tomorrow with four different video ads.

Starz EVP Communications Theano Apostolou said, “If there’s one thing that the 2016 campaign season has taught us, it’s that voters respond to a bold pitch. You can’t really go wrong by getting out of the way and letting Bruce Campbell do what he does best… which is pitch Bruce Campbell. We think his chainsaw hand will help cut through all the noise.” read more
