‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8 Mid-Season Premiere: The Horror News Network Review

The last time that viewers got to watch the Walking Dead, it left off on a tragic and shocking note with Carl being bitten and awaiting his fate.  Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly, what this mid-season premier turned out to be was us waiting a few months to get another drawn out, over-indulgent, and most importantly, emotionless goodbye to one of the original characters.

The Walking Dead has a long history of emotional goodbyes.  The number of characters that viewers have said goodbye to is too numerous to list at this point after eight seasons, but the early departures were always handled with finesse, knowing when to cut the scene and provide the important emotional punch.  That all changed with season six’s final episode that created their version of the infamous “Who Shot J.R.?” angle and the subsequent bashing of Glenn and Abraham by that “smiling jack” by the name of Negan at the start of season seven. read more

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8 Episode One: The Horror News Network Review

Like many original fans of the Walking Dead, I have problems with the current direction of the show and left Season 7 with little hope for salvation in Season 8.  My review of Season 7 was far from complimentary and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to attempt another one, especially for a television program that was once a nuanced, engaging story and that has now devolved into an explosion-filled mess.

The Walking Dead season 8 and Fear the Walking Dead mid-season 3 trailers debuted today at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

The Walking Dead trailer is over five minutes long and contains more explosions than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Commando.   It also has an odd (dream?) sequence at the end that has to be seen to be believed.

For those looking for a little more nuanced story-telling, Fear the Walking Dead’s tension-filled trailer shows some real trouble ahead for the occupants of Broke Jaw Ranch. read more

AMC Has Renewed The Walking Dead For Season 8

Announced in a tweet that should surprise literally no one, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for an eighth season:

The news comes a week before Season 7 is set to premiere. Despite the slight ratings dip, the fact that its viewership is much stronger than every other scripted television show makes it a no-brainer (no pun intended!) for AMC to continue to renew the series. read more
