Keke Palmer of ‘Scream Queens’ Fame Joins the Cast of MTV’s ‘Scream’

Scream Queens may have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean Keke Palmer is done screamin’! Variety reports that the up and coming actress, known for her role as Zayday Williams in Scream Queens, will be returning to horror television with a role in MTV’s rebooted third season of Scream.

Here’s what we know about her character so far:

“Palmer will play Kym, a bold and beautiful social activist with a big heart and zero patience for suffering fools.”

Palmer’s character Zayday shared many of these same qualities to the delight of the Scream Queens‘ fans; so it makes sense that Palmer will be taking on this kind of role in Scream. We’ve previously reported that the third season of the show will have an all-new cast, storyline, and creative direction under the guidance of producer, Queen Latifah, and new showrunner, Brett Matthews. In addition to Keke Palmer, the show will also star  Jessica Sula, Giullian Yao Gioiello, Tyga and C.J. Wallace. read more

Female Directors Discuss the Positive Impact of Ryan Murphy’s Half Foundation

2017 has been an incredible year for female directors. Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman is the highest grossing domestic superhero movie of the year and one of the highest-reviewed superhero movies of all time. Sofia Coppola became the second woman ever to win “Best Director” at Cannes Film Festival for her work on The Beguiled. And Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit is already generating Oscar buzz. The unfortunate side of these recent achievements is that it didn’t happen much sooner; women have traditionally not been offered the same opportunities as men when it comes to directing major Hollywood projects. While the successes of Jenkins, Coopola and Bigelow are promising, it is clear that more needs to be done to provide equal opportunities for women in filmmaking. read more

Fox’s Scream Queens Cancelled After Two Seasons

Fox’s Scream Queens will not experience the same miraculous renewal that The Exorcist received on Friday. Fox co-chairman and CEO Gary Newman confirmed the news this morning on a conference call, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Here’s what Newman had to say:

Scream Queens was an anthological series. It feels as if it was a compete story. We have no plans at this point to go back there and tell more stories so we won’t be seeing Scream Queens this season.”

This statement contradicts the fact that Season Two ended with a surprise cliffhanger, which will never be resolved at this point. Jamie Lee Curtis took to Twitter to thank fans of the franchise and offer this tongue-in-cheeck resolution to the series: read more

Jamie Lee Curtis Meets and Greets Horror Fans in an Unlikely Setting

Many horror fans still talk about the now-legendary appearance of Jamie Lee Curtis at HorrorHound Weekend in 2012.
