Samuel Hadida Dies at 64

We have sad news to pass along today as Deadline is reporting that producer Samuel Hadida has passed away. Horror fans know Hadida as the driving force behind the film adaptation of the Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises.

Born in Casablanca, Morocco on December 17, 1953, Hadida co-founded Metropolitan Filmexport with his brother Victor in 1978. The company is the currently French distributor for Lionsgate films. In 1993 his first horror venture Necronomicon: Book of the Dead was released which starred Jeffrey Combs as H.P. Lovecraft. In 2002, Hadida quarterbacked the beloved Resident Evil video game franchise to the big screen. The film starred Milla Jovovich as Alice, Michelle Rodriguez as Rain, and Eric Mabius as Matt. The film garnered over $100 million at the box office and spawned five more additions to the franchise. read more
