Syfy Bringing Back Rod Serling’s ‘Night Gallery’

When you bring up the name Rod Serling, most people immediately think The Twilight Zone. And rightfully so; The Twilight Zone ran from 1959-1964 and included many classic stories featuring many famous actors of the time, the show is consistently listed among the top television shows of all-time and still gets shown (usually in marathon form) quite often.

After The Twilight Zone ended in 1964, Rod Serling kept busy with several film and television projects before returning to a similar platform called Night Gallery in 1969. White The Twilight Zone was considered more science fiction, Night Gallery had more of a supernatural/horror vibe. With the popularity of horror series’ these days, coupled with the fact that Jordan Peele will be rebooting The Twilight Zone (see that story here), it comes as no surprise that Deadline is reporting today that the Syfy channel will be jumping into the “Rod Serling” mix with a reboot of Night Gallery. read more

‘The Twilight Zone’ Reboot Adds John Cho, Allison Tolman and Jacob Tremblay

Just in from The Hollywood Reporter, three additional stars have been cast in an episode of the upcoming reboot of The Twilight Zone from Jordan Peele; Searching‘s John Cho, Allison Tolman from FX’s Fargo and The Predator‘s Jacob Tremblay.

All three have signed on to star in the episode titled “The Wunderkind.” Their roles in the episode and the plot are all being kept tightly under wraps.

They join a growing cast that also includes Adam Scott (Big Little Lies), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Sanaa Lathan (Nappily Ever After), whose roles are also a secret for the time being. read more

Coming Soon from Jordan Peele – The Horror Bits

From the latest feature on Variety, many directors in Hollywood have all too great a challenge coming up with something new that audiences will pay to see. For Jordan Peele, director of 2017’s Get Out, he hit a home run with his directorial debut achieving critical acclaim and commercial success that earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Now, Peele has his eyes on all new projects with his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, that includes Lovecraft Country at HBO and The Twilight Zone to be streamed on CBS All Access. read more

BOOM! Studios to Adapt Rod Serling’s Original ‘Planet of the Apes’ Screenplay in ‘Planet of the Apes: Visionaries’

BOOM! Studios in association with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products have announced that they will be releasing an original graphic novel titled Planet of the Apes: Visionaries. The book, which is set to release in August, adapts Rod Serling’s original screenplay of the 1968 film Planet of the Apes into comic book format.

Planet of the Apes: Visionaries will show a much different take on the “Ape” world than what was seen in the movie franchise. In Serling’s version, apes are imagined in a modern world complete with skyscrapers, cars, televisions and a vibrant culture. read more
