Ever since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain dropped in 2015 and it was clear that Hideo Kojima- the franchise’s visionary creator- would no longer be working for Konami, fans of his work waited with baited breath to see what he would create next. Since E3 2016, we knew his new company, Kojima Productions, was working on a new title called Death Stranding, and we’ve since been treated to a variety of unusual teaser trailers featuring the uncanny digital renderings of Hollywood royalty such as Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Guillermo del Toro. But as the years went by, so did many people’s hopes that we’d ever get to play the game any time soon. That all changes today with a brand-new trailer featuring extensive gameplay footage and the official release date for the highly-anticipated game!
Straight from IGN comes an exclusive teaser trailer in preparation for the February return of The Walking Dead.
The Whisperers are front and center in the trailer giving a clear view of their leaders; Alpha (Samantha Morton) and Beta (Sons of Anarchy‘s Ryan Hurst).
The Whisperers were slowly built up to be the new villains during the first half of Season 9 and finally revealed as a true threat in the mid-season finale. The new antagonists disguise themselves as walkers by wearing the skins of the undead, which allows them to pass among them without risk of being attacked and makes them seem as though they are just another pack roaming the ruined world. read more
Deadline has a report on the latest Walking Dead ratings and things are not looking good for the series. Following a weekend where the cast of the AMC series shambled into New York Comic Con, around 6.1 million viewers tuned into the Season 9 debut “A New Beginning” which aired on October 7. The rating indicates an enormous drop of 47% from over 11 million that watched the Season 8 opener last October.
The rating decline could be skewed though as AMC offers an online service called AMC Premiere which allowed users to view the season premiere episode a day early. Whether or not those numbers could make a dent in the huge rating deficit remain unknown as the AMC Premiere numbers are not available. read more
AMC has released the first art for season nine of The Walking Dead and it contains what looks to be a pretty important piece of information: The United States Capitol. In the poster below, we can clearly make out a building that can only be a crumbling Capitol Building (and another of those damned helicopters, of course) behind Rick, Carol, Michonne, Maggie and Daryl.
The poster, released by Deadline yesterday, is interesting for a few reasons: first of all, we are obviously following the mystery of the helicopter again this season (no surprise there). But the second, and most intriguing piece, is the Capitol because unless that large building was moved somehow, this means that the group ends up in Washington DC which signifies a major break from the comics. read more
Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead are used to seeing the show continue without some of their favorite characters… but what if the next big character exit were none other than Rick Grimes?
Collider reported this afternoon that Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the series next season, marking a departure of the main character of the franchise. No further reasons were given for Lincoln’s departure, but several news outlets are citing off-screen drama between the talent and the studio bean counters, including Lauren Cohan’s recent very-public contract negotiations. read more
The Season Eight mid-season finale of The Walking Dead had more fans than usual throwing their remotes through their television screens in fits of rage. The franchise which built its legacy by toying with viewers’ emotional connections to characters may have gone too far when it abruptly killed off Chandler Riggs’ Carl… a young man who is still alive and well in the comic series upon which the show is based. In the series’ relentless quest to shock its viewers in search of those sweet, sweet ratings, this latest stunt didn’t exactly achieve the same level of interest as all of those “Negan clobberings” of yesteryear. And it turns out that fans aren’t the only ones who feel bad about this recent development! read more
Hideo Kojima is back on the block after his very public falling out with Konami. Every since the terrfying P.T. (a playable teaser for Silent Hills, a game meant to be Kojima’s and Guillermo Del Toro’s take on the legendary Silent Hill franchise) dropped on Playstation 4, fans have been clamoring for the video game legend’s take on a full size horror game. But it wasn’t meant to be. Around the time of the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami began to publicly force Hideo Kojima out of the company and shifted focus away from producing AAA titles for home consoles. read more
