Tyler Posey of ‘Teen Wolf’ to Join Cast of MTV’s ‘Scream’

Teen Wolf may have just finished up its run on MTV, but that doesn’t mean Tyler Posey is off the network! TV Line reports that he has signed on to star in MTV’s upcoming Season Three reboot of its Scream television series. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after the season finale of Teen Wolf aired.

On Teen Wolf, Posey played Scott McCall, a hunky werewolf boy with looks to match his bite. Although casting announcements for Scream have tended to come with short bios and character names for each new performer, info on Posey’s character is noticeably absent from the announcement. This either means his role will be more mysterious than the other recent announcements, or that his addition to the cast is so fresh that the network hasn’t had time to put together an official character bio, but they wanted to get the word out to take advantage of the hype surrounding the conclusion of Teen Wolf. read more

Keke Palmer of ‘Scream Queens’ Fame Joins the Cast of MTV’s ‘Scream’

Scream Queens may have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean Keke Palmer is done screamin’! Variety reports that the up and coming actress, known for her role as Zayday Williams in Scream Queens, will be returning to horror television with a role in MTV’s rebooted third season of Scream.

Here’s what we know about her character so far:

“Palmer will play Kym, a bold and beautiful social activist with a big heart and zero patience for suffering fools.”

Palmer’s character Zayday shared many of these same qualities to the delight of the Scream Queens‘ fans; so it makes sense that Palmer will be taking on this kind of role in Scream. We’ve previously reported that the third season of the show will have an all-new cast, storyline, and creative direction under the guidance of producer, Queen Latifah, and new showrunner, Brett Matthews. In addition to Keke Palmer, the show will also star  Jessica Sula, Giullian Yao Gioiello, Tyga and C.J. Wallace. read more

Tyga and C.J. Wallace Join the Cast of MTV’s ‘Scream’ Season 3 Reboot

MTV surprised fans of it’s Scream television series when it announced in late April that Season Three would usher in a complete reboot of the franchise, with an all-new cast and creative direction. Queen Latifah was announced as an executive producer, and new characters for the franchise were revealed in early May… confirming the fact that none of the characters from the previous season will return. While news on the series has gone cold since then, The Hollywood Reporter has just confirmed that rappers/actors Tyga and C.J. Wallace have joined the series in leading roles.  read more

New Characters Revealed for MTV’s Scream Season 3 Reboot

We reported late last month that MTV is going in an entirely new direction for Season Three of it’s Scream television series. It’s showrunner, storyline, and entire cast will be abandoned in favor of a new direction charted by Queen Latifah and Flavor Unit Entertainment. The news left fans wondering what to expect with regards to the new characters who will be featured next season. Now, we have the first bits of info on the characters who will replace Emma, Noah, Brooke, Audrey, and the rest of the gang! read more

MTV to Reboot Scream with New Cast, New Showrunner, and Queen Latifah

Back on March 17th, we reported on a rumor that MTV’s Scream Season Three would be rebooted with a new cast and story. The speculation at the time was based on the show’s declining ratings (from 750,000 viewers per episode in Season One to 380,000 viewers per episode in Season Two), and the fact that key cast members were beginning to secure commitments to other shows (such as Willa Fitzgerald’s contract for Fox’s upcoming show, Behind Enemy Lines). While rumors about dramatic overhauls should always be taken with a grain of salt, this one turned out to be pretty much spot-on! MTV announced today that Season Three of Scream is “getting a total renovation,” with an all new showrunner, storyline, cast, and “flavor!” read more

Scream Season 3 May Feature New Cast and Rebooted Story

MTV’s Scream television series hasn’t particularly lived up to fan or studio expectations. Season One of the show averaged about 750,000 viewers, and Season Two took a dramatic dip to an average of approximately 380,000 viewers. Originally slated for 14 episodes, Season Two was cut back to 12 and a self-contained Halloween special which aired two months after the season ended. Some thought at the time that this could be the end of the Brandon James storyline that the show continuously promised to wrap up, but loose ends were not tied up and a shortened Season Three was eventually announced. Now, Deadline is reporting that all bets may be off for this upcoming abbreviated season: we may see a new cast and a new story! read more

MTV’s Scream: The TV Series Halloween Special Review

The MTV Scream television series’ days are numbered. While the second season was arguably more watchable than the first season, it still wasn’t great (for every clever concept, like the “school lockdown” episode, there was something nearly unwatchable like the psychedelic never ending house party). The dip in ratings along with the radio silence about upcoming content led to rampant speculation about the fate of the series. When the Halloween Special was announced, some news sources mistakenly reported that the series would be finished after the special aired. Now that we know that Season Three will consist of just six final episodes, the revolving door of showrunners have been tasked with quickly wrapping up a series that never quite got off the ground. read more

Scream Renewed for an Abbreviated Third Season

MTV’s series adaptation of Wes Craven’s classic, Scream, has been renewed for an abbreviated third season, consisting of only 6 episodes.  This news hits just before the Scream Halloween two-hour special.

Returning in 2017, it is unclear as to whether or not the third season will be the final for the show.  With viewership down by almost half for the second season from the first, MTV is once again changing up showrunners, replacing Michael Gans and Richard Register with someone yet to be announced.  For fans this news is probably met with mixed feelings.  While the show will return, it appears that the fate of the show seemingly hangs in the balance.  I must admit, I personally was not expecting this show to be as well done and engrossing as it is. It would be a shame to see this one go since it’s the best non- reality show on MTV since, well…since they actually played music videos. read more
