An ‘Underworld’ TV Series Is In The Works

Rejoice, Underworld fans: the franchise is leaping from the big screen to the small screen very soon.  According to Deadline, director/producer Len Wiseman and his company Sketch Films are close to a deal that will bring the popular movie series to television.  Seen as a big departure from the films in terms of tone and appeal, the relaxed standards of premium cable and/or streaming services is being looked at as a potential home for the series.

The Underworld franchise, which consists of five films and Kate Beckinsale as heroine Selene, has grossed over $220 million in domestic theaters and close to $500 million worldwide since debuting in 2003.  The movies tell the tale of vampire Selene, who is also a Death Dealer.  The revenge epic has been a huge hit with both vampire fans as well as the casual horror crowd.  Wiseman, who has also been tabbed to direct the next entry in the Die Hard franchise, has been involved in all of the Underworld films thus far.  He directed (and co-wrote) both Underworld (2003)and Underworld: Evolution (2006), and was credited as a producer on the other three.  For the TV series adaptation, he will once again serve as Executive Producer. read more

New Trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars Unleashed

Today Sony Pictures dropped the third trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars.  Kate Beckinsale is back in the pleather and returns to the screen as Selene in January of 2017.

From the looks of the trailer, fans of the franchise will be treated an onslaught of ferocious lycan chaos. It also appears as though Selene will once again not go away quietly. As with the previous films, she will battle both vampires and werewolves, including a new lycan foe, Marius, played by Tobias Menzies.

With this being the third trailer for the film, many have wondered whether or not too much of the plot has been revealed.  However, for fans of the franchise and werewolf movies in general, this installment of Underworld series looks to deliver the action and suspense horror fans loved about the first two films.  Underworld: Blood Wars hits theaters on January 6, 2017 in the US and January 13, 2017 in the UK.  You can check out the latest trailer below. read more

New Trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars

A new trailer for the upcoming Underworld: Blood Wars, starring Kate Beckinsale, shows us just how far Selene will got to try to win the war that has plagued her kind for so long. Theo James and Charles Dance co-star.

The synopsis for the new film reads, “The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice. ” read more

Selene Returns in Underworld: Blood Wars Trailer

Well, fans of the Underworld franchise will be more than blood thirsty when they see the new trailer for the upcoming Underworld: Blood Wars, as Kate Beckinsale storms back onto the screen as Selene.  After 2009’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, from which Beckinsale was absent, and what some felt was mediocre outing, Underworld: Awakening in 2012 the return of Selene  and a fresh new Underworld film offers promise and possibly even redemption in some fans eyes.

Underworld: Blood Wars, which is directed by Anna Foerster shows the return of Selene, who will once again fight to stop the brutal war between lycans and vampires.  The franchise has always provided some outstanding werewolf FX.  From the looks of the trailer, the new installment will be no different, and seems to provide even more action and bloodshed than previous.  With new players on the hunt and Selene with nothing left to lose, it appears as though we can expect many twists and turns in the story line as well. read more

The Disappointments Room Ghostly Trailer Debuts

Relativity Pictures released the first trailer for the upcoming Kate Beckinsale thriller The Disappointments Room today.  The film also stars  Lucas Till (X-Men Apocalypse), Gerald McRaney (House of Cards) and Michela Conlin (Bones) and will be released in theaters nationwide on September 9th, 2016.

The film centers on typical “don’t open that locked room” horror motifs and Kevin Polowy of Yahoo! Movies uncovered the meaning behind the film’s title, stating that “Historically, the film’s title refers to rooms that families in the 19th century would use to hide children with disabilities, which might provide some clues to what poor Dana (Beckinsale) and clan will be contending with once she unlocks it.” read more
